Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) Test

A TSH (Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone) blood test measures the amount of TSH in your bloodstream to assess how well the thyroid gland is functioning. The thyroid is a small gland in the neck that helps regulate metabolism, energy levels, and many other body processes. TSH is produced by the pituitary gland and signals the thyroid to make the hormones T3 and T4.

This test is often used to check for thyroid imbalances such as hypothyroidism (an underactive thyroid) or hyperthyroidism (an overactive thyroid).
