The Liver Function Test is an important assessment for evaluating the health and functionality of the liver, an organ responsible for detoxification, metabolism, and protein synthesis.

This test measures several key liver markers, including:

Albumin: A protein produced by the liver that helps evaluate liver function and detect liver disease.

ALP (Alkaline Phosphatase): High levels may indicate disorders related to the liver, bile duct, or bones.

AST (Aspartate Aminotransferase) & ALT (Alanine Aminotransferase): Enzymes that may suggest liver cell damage when elevated.

Gamma Glutamyltransferase: Often elevated in conditions affecting the liver and bile ducts, as well as with alcohol consumption.

Total Bilirubin: Elevated levels can signal issues such as jaundice, indicating potential liver or bile duct problems.

Ferritin: A protein that stores iron in the body and releases it when needed. A ferritin blood test is commonly used to assess iron levels and diagnose or monitor conditions like anaemia or iron-related disorders.
